Take Exit 226 and a short drive on a gravel road and you’ll arrive at an unexpected gem: a bygone-era craft cocktail bar housed in a century-old bakery. (The word “Bread” remains spelled out in white lettering on the building, hence the bar’s name.) Cocktail names are nods to historical players who helped shaped Silver Plume, a former silver mining camp with a population of 177. For example, the Clifford Griffin is a rye whiskey cocktail with a red wine float and is named after a miner who played the violin outside his cabin each night. Bread Bar doesn’t serve food, but food trucks do make cameos. There’s also occasional live music.
