Three Colorado ski areas celebrated their respective first chairs Wednesday after pushing up their openings — and for one of them, it’s the earliest date in 20 years.
Breckenridge, Keystone and Eldora all announced Monday that this season’s snow dumps and consistent snowmaking meant they could open earlier. For Breck and Keystone, that meant opening two days early. For Eldora, it was nine.
This is the first time in 10 years that Breck and Keystone have opened early, according to a release from the ski areas. The last time Eldora opened this early was two decades ago.
Ski Cooper also pushed up its opening, now running first chair Nov. 23.
The ext ski area looking to open is Winter Park on Nov. 14, followed by Copper Mountain and Vail on Nov. 16.
